Applications

Phosphorus Mission is designed to enable patients to assimilate essential information on chronic kidney disease and understand the impact of food choices and the role of prescribed treatments.

PHOSPHORUS MISSION EDUCATIONAL TOOL

Phosphorus Mission Educational Tool is a mobile application designed and developed by Sanofi for people with advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD). Educational and entertaining, the app helps patients better understand their disease, treatment options, and dietary choices related to their health.

Phosphorus Mission, the first in a series of apps developed by Sanofi, demonstrates its commitment to innovating for patients and going "beyond the pill”. Patients and healthcare professionals were involved at all stages of this initiative – from conception, development, testing and launch. Through gaming mechanics and educational psychology principles, Phosphorus Mission aims to educate patients about the management of complex situations, such as dialysis and the role of minerals on their overall clinical condition. It is designed to enable patients to assimilate essential information on chronic kidney disease and understand the impact of food choices and the role of prescribed treatments.

For the first time ever during its 43th EDTNA/ERCA International Conference, the Association has accredited a mobile solution, Phosphorus Mission Educational Tool aiming at bridging gaps in chronic patients’ care. In its accreditation letter, EDTNA/ERCA described Phosphorus Mission as an excellent resource for the nephrology community and a very good teaching and learning aid for patients: “highly interactive and engaging and could be used by all age groups including patients, carers and extended family”.

For healthcare professional accreditations suggest that approved mobile solutions may be now regarded as useful tools for patients’ education. Caregivers are encouraged to enrich their therapeutic education armamentarium to include trusted and entertaining educational methods to fulfil the new needs of their 21th century patients.

For chronic patients accreditation of an app by a leading healthcare organization provides reassurance in the context of the exploding health apps offer. In the case of Phosphorus Mission, patients are encouraged to see that education on their disease management can safely and efficiently be associated with gaming and fun.

The application may be available for download in application stores depending on the local regulations. Please note that the application is available in the following countries: France, Sweden, Russia, Kazakhstan, South Africa, India Philippines, Singapore, Korea, and Malaysia.
